Avery 8160 Template: Print a List of Addresses on 30 Labels

This Avery 8160 template opens the free label maker on the 5160 layout that inkjet packs call 8160: 30 labels of 2 5/8 x 1 in, 3 columns by 10 rows on a US Letter sheet. It opens in list mode with three placeholder addresses, so you can replace them with your own list and print a different address on every label.

How to use the Avery 8160 template

Three steps put an address list on the Avery 8160 template, and the label maker checks the labels as you go.

The sheet opens in List mode, a placeholder address on each of the 30 labels.

An Avery 8160 template measured to fit

Each number comes from the label maker’s own sheet layout, so the addresses sit where the printer puts them and the label on the sheet is the one you designed.

2.625 in0.125 in0.1875 in1 in0.5 in

The sheet is one Letter page with 30 positions of 2 5/8 x 1 in (2.625 x 1 in, 66.7 x 25.4 mm), 3 across and 10 down.

The exact 8160 grid

Thirty positions of 2 5/8 x 1 in on one Letter page, 3 across and 10 down, rows touching and columns 2.75 in apart. Packs numbered 5160, 5260, 5960 and 18160 share the grid, so any of them prints from this page.

Thirty addresses from one list fill the 30 labels, one each.

A list laid out on every label

On the Avery 8160 template, List mode puts a different address on each label, one block at a time, without typing the same words 30 times. The list stays one text element, so a change to its font, size, color or alignment reaches every label on the sheet.

A blank Word template for Google Docs

The blank Word file is a 3 x 10 table on a Letter page, one cell for each label. Type or paste one address into each cell; the cells have no borders, so the page prints clean and Word’s View Gridlines shows the cell edges on screen.

The test PDF has two pages: the 30 outlines on the first, and the 1 in and 25 mm squares on the second.

A test page before the inkjet run

Print page 1 of the test PDF on plain paper and lay it over a blank sheet: when the 30 outlines sit on the labels, the addresses will too.

What the Avery 8160 template is

An Avery 8160 compatible sheet is a US Letter page of 30 address labels, 3 columns by 10 rows, each label 2 5/8 x 1 in. The 8160 is the inkjet version of the 5160 laser sheet, and 18160 is another inkjet pack of the same layout. This Avery 8160 template opens the free label maker on that layout, with the label size, the margins and the print settings already in place.

The page opens the label maker, so the list becomes a print file as you type. Type an address, paste a list of 30 or 35, add a barcode or a small logo, then print at actual size or download the Sheet PDF, a vector PDF, an SVG or a PNG. The blank PDF, PNG and Word files are separate: they hold the empty 30-label sheet, ready to fill in yourself.

The Avery 8160 sheet on a Letter page

Every one of the 30 positions is 2 5/8 x 1 in (2.625 x 1 in, about 66.7 x 25.4 mm), laid out 3 across and 10 down. Columns sit 2.75 in apart with a 1/8 in strip between them, and the rows touch, so an address list reads label by label down the page.

From the page edge to the grid is 3/16 in at the sides and 1/2 in at the top and bottom, and each label has 0.1 in round corners. The preview, the test page, the Sheet PDF and the Word table all read these numbers, so an address that fits on screen fits on paper.

Printing a list of addresses on the Avery 8160 template

Address lists are what this sheet is for: a different name on every label, one after another. Set the address text to List and paste the names and addresses one block after another, with a blank line between blocks, so each block lands whole on its own label. The first block goes on the first label, the second on the second, and thirty blocks fill one sheet for invitations, holiday cards, move notices or a batch of small parcels.

The list repeats from the start when a sheet has more labels than blocks. Set Labels to print to the number of addresses so each one prints once; with 35 addresses, 30 fill the first sheet and 5 start the second, and the Sheet PDF adds a page for every 30 and carries them in order. A list of names, flavors, lot numbers or sample codes works the same way, one entry on each label.

The Word template and Google Docs

The Word file from the Avery 8160 template is a blank 3 x 10 table on a Letter page, one cell for each label and the page margins set to the first label position. Type or paste one address into each cell in Word. The cells have no borders, so the page prints clean; View Gridlines in Word shows the cell edges on screen.

Upload the file to Google Drive, choose Open with Google Docs, type one address in each cell, then download a PDF. The blank PDF and the 300 dpi PNG are there for a quick print or a design app.

Inkjet printing the Avery 8160 template

The 8160 is made for an inkjet printer. Print page 1 of the test PDF on plain paper at 100% or Actual size first, never Fit to page: it draws the 30 label outlines. Page 2 has a 1 in and a 25 mm square to measure. Hold page 1 over a blank sheet in front of a light, and when the outlines sit on the labels the printer and the sheet agree.

Set the printer paper type to Labels or Thick paper. Let the ink dry before you peel the labels, and every address stays crisp to the label edge.

Avery 8160 or 5160: the same layout

The 8160 and the 5160 share one layout: 30 labels of 2 5/8 x 1 in, 3 columns by 10 rows, the same margins and the same gaps. The difference is the paper, not the grid. Packs sold as 8160 are made for inkjet printers and packs sold as 5160 for laser printers, and 18160 is another inkjet pack of the same sheet, so this page works as an Avery 18160 template too.

That is why this page and the Avery 5160 template draw the same labels. Use this page for an inkjet pack and the 5160 page for a laser pack, or switch between them at no cost: both open the label maker on 30 labels a sheet, and both give the test page and the print files.

Offset calibration and saving the design

When every label prints a little off the same way, the printer offset fixes it. Print the test page, measure how far the outlines sit from the labels, and enter the distance in Printer offset right and Printer offset down in the print panel. A negative value moves the design left or up. Print the test page again, and when the outlines drop into place, print on labels.

Each label template page keeps a design of its own, so the list you build here is still here tomorrow, whatever you make on the Avery 5160 template or the return address template. Save to account keeps it for another device, and Save project writes a file you can open later.

  • Printer offset right
  • Printer offset down

Enter the shift in Printer offset right and Printer offset down; a negative value moves left or up.

Labels that fit the envelope or parcel

Give every block the same three lines, name, street and city, so the column of labels reads evenly; the page starts the text at 8.5 pt, which holds three lines on a 1 in label. A shorter two-line address leaves room for larger type.

For parcels, the shipping label template prints each destination on a 4 x 2 in label, and this page prints an address list for envelopes and cards, one address on each label.
