How to use the Avery 5160 template

Three steps take you from the sheet to a printed page, and this 5160 template checks the label as you go.

A label sheet template measured to fit

Every number on the Avery 5160 template comes from the sheet layout the label maker draws, so the preview and the print agree.

The exact 5160 grid

Avery 5160 compatible sheets hold 30 labels of 2.625 x 1 in, 3 columns and 10 rows, with rows 1 in apart so the label edges meet and columns 2.75 in apart. The same layout is sold as 5260, 5960, 8160 and 18160.

Margins and corner radius

The first label sits 3/16 in from the left and right page edges and 1/2 in from the top and bottom. The label corners have a 0.1 in radius. These are the numbers from Avery’s own template, measured rather than guessed.

One design, 30 labels

Edit one label and the whole sheet follows: a name, an address, a product with a lot number, or a barcode. Type the same text on every label, or switch a text to List for a different line on each one.

Barcodes that scan

Add a UPC-A, EAN-13, UPC-E, EAN-8, Code 128 or QR code from the barcode generator engine. The check digit is added for you, and the checks warn when a retail barcode is under 80% or its quiet zone is crowded.

Vector files for the printer

The single-label PDF and SVG are vector with the text outlined. The Sheet PDF places the labels on a Letter page at actual size, the PNG is 300 dpi, and the Cricut file cuts around the label shape.

What the Avery 5160 template is

Avery 5160 compatible sheets are the 2.625 x 1 in address label sheets that fill a US Letter page with 30 labels in 3 columns and 10 rows. The Avery 5160 label template uses those numbers, so the label on screen is the label that comes out of the printer.

The layout is also sold as 5260, 5960, 8160 and 18160. Those numbers share the same 2.625 x 1 in label, 3 x 10 grid and margins, so a pack with one of them prints the same sheet on this page.

The sheet’s exact size, grid and margins

Each label is 2.625 x 1 in (about 66.7 x 25.4 mm). Three columns and ten rows give 30 labels. The columns are 2.75 in apart, which leaves 1/8 in between labels; the rows are 1 in apart, so labels meet along their long edges.

The grid is centred: 3/16 in from the left and right page edges, and 1/2 in from the top and bottom. The label corners have a 0.1 in radius. A US Letter sheet is 8.5 x 11 in, and the Avery 5160 template fills it with 30 labels.

How to print the Avery 5160 template at actual size

Choose 100% or Actual size in the print dialog, never Fit to page or Scale to fit. A sheet scaled even a few percent drifts a little more with every row, and the last labels miss the paper.

Print the test page on plain paper first: it draws the label outlines and a 1 in and 25 mm square. Hold it against a blank label sheet in front of a light; when the outlines sit on the labels, print the sheet on labels. If everything is shifted the same way, measure the shift, enter the printer offset and print the test again.

What to put on a 5160 label

At 2.625 x 1 in the label suits a name and address, a product name with a lot number, a file or shelf label, or a single barcode. Keep the type large enough to read at arm’s length and leave clear space around a barcode.

The label maker sets the background, text, fonts and colors. The checks warn when text is under 6 pt, a barcode is small or crowded, a picture prints under 300 dpi, or something sits outside the safe area. The same safe area applies to every label on the sheet.

A list on every label: the 5160 template’s text modes

A sheet of 30 is rarely 30 copies of the same label. Set a text to List and paste one line per label: the first line goes on the first label, the second on the second, and the list repeats if the sheet has more positions. That is how name tags, flavor labels, sample numbers and address lists get made in one pass.

Set the text to Numbers for a serial number per label, with a prefix, suffix, start, step and digit count, for lots, batches or tickets. Same keeps one text on every label. The text stays one element: change its font, size, alignment or color and the whole run follows.

Barcodes and files on the Avery 5160 template

Add a barcode with the barcode generator engine: UPC-A, EAN-13, UPC-E, EAN-8, Code 128 or QR. The check digit is added for you, and a retail barcode under 80% or one with a crowded quiet zone is flagged before you print.

Download the Sheet PDF for a home printer, the single-label PDF or SVG for a design app or a print shop, the PNG at 300 dpi, or the Cricut file for Print Then Cut. Every file is free, with no watermark; the text is outlined in the vector files, so it stays sharp and prints the same everywhere.

Avery 5160 template or another sheet?

If your sheet has 2.625 x 1 in labels but different margins or gaps, choose Custom sheet and enter the columns, rows, margins and gaps you measure, then print the test page before the labels. Other brands often share the label size but not the margins, so the custom grid is the safe choice.

The label maker holds 12 Avery sheet layouts, from 5160 to round 3 in labels. This page opens on 5160; another size is one click away, and the design scales with the label.

What size is the Avery 5160 template?

Each label is 2.625 x 1 in, with 30 labels on a US Letter sheet in 3 columns and 10 rows.

Which other sheet numbers fit this layout?

5260, 5960, 8160 and 18160 share the 2.625 x 1 in label and the same grid. Other brands can share the label size but use different margins, so measure those and choose Custom sheet.

How do I print the Avery 5160 template at actual size?

Choose 100% or Actual size, not Fit to page, and print the test page on plain paper first. If the outlines are off, enter the printer offset and print the test again before using label sheets.

Can each label have a different name or number?

Yes. Set a text to List and paste one line per label, or to Numbers for a serial number. The sheet prints them in order from the start position you pick.

Can I add a barcode to a 5160 label?

Yes: UPC-A, EAN-13, UPC-E, EAN-8, Code 128 and QR codes, with the check digit added and a warning when a retail barcode is too small or crowded.

Is the Avery 5160 template free?

Yes. The label maker, every sheet, the test page and the PDF, SVG, PNG and Cricut files are free, with no signup and no watermark. Only Design with AI uses credits.

Which file from the Avery 5160 template should I send to a printer?

The single-label PDF or the Sheet PDF: both are vector, at actual size, with the text outlined. A print shop can place the Sheet PDF on its press; ask for a proof before a large run.

Does the page work without an internet connection?

The label maker runs in the browser after the page loads, and your pictures stay on your device unless you save the design to your account or press Design with AI. A connection is needed to load fonts and to save.

Can I open the design later?

Yes. Each sheet page keeps its own autosave in this browser, and the design can be saved to your account or as a project file. A visit to another label page does not replace this page’s saved design.

Is this page affiliated with Avery?

No. Avery is a trademark of its owner; this tool is not affiliated with Avery, and the 5160 layout is made to fit the sheet.
