Slogan vs tagline: what a slogan generator writes for a package
A tagline is the short line that stays with the brand: under the logo, on every package, on the site. A slogan may be made for one product or one campaign. Many people use the two words for the same thing, so this slogan generator works as a tagline generator too, and sorts every line by where it goes.
Package front lines sit under the product name, so they are short: up to 40 characters and 6 words, and they never repeat the brand, which is printed already. Brand taglines have 2 to 6 words and up to 30 characters, to fit under a logo. Ad and social lines may run to 70 characters, for a bio, a post or a promotion, and that is where rhyme and wordplay get the most room.
These limits are ours, not a printer’s or a platform’s: we set them so a line fits where it goes, and the writer aims a little under each. Every character counts, spaces included. Chinese lines have their own limits: 16, 12 and 30 characters.
Each line comes with a style tag, such as rhyme, alliteration or a call to action, and one short reason it works, so you can judge a slogan rather than just like it.
