How many words fit in a radio ad script
A radio ad script is sold by the second, so the words have to fit. A voice reads about 130 words a minute when it takes its time, 150 at a natural conversational pace and 170 when it is energetic. Leave a breath at the end, one second on a 15 second spot and two on a 30, and a conversational 30 second radio ad script holds about 70 spoken words.
Count the words the voice says, not the ones on the page. A price, a date, a code or a web address is longer out loud: "20% off with code TRAIL20 through June 30" is ten words. The AI radio ad script generator writes them out the way they are read and counts them that way, so the timing on the page is the timing in the studio.
When a version runs long, the generator drops the lines the writer marked least important first, then the next, and keeps what says the most in the time. The brand, the hook and the call to action stay.
