Water Bottle Label Template Maker for Parties and Products

This water bottle label template maker starts with the bottle: enter its diameter or the distance around it, the straight height of its side and the gap or overlap at the ends, and the label size is worked out for you. The same wrap is drawn on a plain bottle, so you can turn it and see the ends meet before you print. Five common bottle sizes are ready, the 8 x 2 in wrap prints five to a Letter sheet, and four starters cover a wedding, a birthday, a company event or a product bottle.

What this bottle label maker does

A water bottle label has to wrap a round bottle, meet at the back and survive a cooler. The bottle label maker keeps those three jobs in one place.

The wrap size comes from the bottle

The calculator in the bottle label maker takes the diameter or the measured circumference and subtracts the gap between the ends, or adds the overlap, to get the label width. The height comes from the straight part of the bottle less the clearance at the top and bottom. Nothing is guessed: the arithmetic is the same for a 500 mL water bottle, a 12 oz bottle and a 1 oz dropper bottle.

The label on the bottle, turned by hand

The bottle view draws each column of the flat label where it lies round the bottle, lit as the curve turns away. Turn it with the slider or the buttons to read the back, and press Show the ends to see the seam. The view is drawn from the same preview as the downloads, so a word moved in the editor moves on the bottle.

The overlap strip is reported, not lost

When a label is wider than the bottle, its right end covers the first part of its left end. While the size panel is open, the bottle label maker shades that strip in the editor, and it adds a warning to the checks for every text, barcode or picture that sits in it. Each warning has a Select it button that picks the element. Move it right of the strip and the warning goes.

The common bottle sizes ready to print

The 8 x 2 in bottle label template is a popular water bottle size and fits most 8 oz and 16.9 oz bottles. The 12 oz bottle has its own 7.25 x 1.83 in preset here, since the 8 in wrap overlaps a 12 oz bottle by 0.93 in. The 3 x 1.5 in label suits a 1 oz Boston round dropper, the 4 x 2 in label suits a 5 oz woozy bottle and prints ten to an Avery 5163 sheet, and the 4 x 5 in front label suits a 1 L bottle.

A sheet you can print at home

Each preset comes with a sheet layout: the 8 x 2 in wrap prints five to a Letter page, the 12 oz wrap five, the dropper label twelve and the 1 L front two. The sheet preview shows every label in place, and the print panel holds the start position and the printer offset for a second run.

Download one label as a PDF or an SVG at its real size, a PNG at 300 dpi, or a sheet PDF with every label in place. The PDF and the SVG draw the text as outlines, so the lettering prints exactly as designed. The label PDF, the SVG and the PNG carry the 1/8 in bleed; the safe area is a guide in the editor; the sheet PDF has a 1/16 in bleed, half the gap between its labels.

What a water bottle label template is for

A water bottle label template is a flat label that wraps round a round bottle and meets at the back. People use them for 16.9 oz and 500 mL water bottles at a wedding, a birthday or a company event, and for product bottles. The same editor also sizes labels for a 12 oz bottle, a 1 oz dropper bottle with its own 3 x 1.5 in label, and a 5 oz sauce bottle. The size is worked out from the bottle rather than typed in twice.

The difference between a good wrap and a loose one is the measurement. A label cut to the exact circumference has nowhere to go when the bottle is slightly wider than the paper says, and a label with too much overlap covers its own artwork. The calculator under the size menu takes the gap or the overlap into account, and the bottle view shows where the ends land before anything is printed.

The bottle label maker opens on the 8 x 2 in wrap. That size is a popular water bottle size, and it fits most 8 oz and 16.9 oz bottles. A 12 oz bottle has its own 7.25 x 1.83 in preset here, because the 8 in wrap overlaps a 12 oz bottle by 0.93 in. The 8 x 2 in wrap also prints five to a Letter page, which makes a batch for a party practical at home.

How to measure a bottle for a water bottle label template

Measure the bottle at its widest point of the label area, not at the neck or the base. If you have a tape measure, run it round the bottle for the circumference; if not, measure across the bottle for the diameter and multiply by 3.14159. A 16.9 oz PET bottle that is 2.567 in across is about 8.06 in circumference, and a 12 oz bottle that is 2.25 in across is about 7.07 in circumference.

Then measure the straight part of the side: it runs from where the base stops curving to where the shoulder starts. The label height is that straight height less the clearance at the top and the bottom. The five presets are published sizes; the calculator starts with 1/8 in at each end, and you can set the clearance from 0 to 50 mm, as you can the gap or overlap amount.

For the ends, choose a gap or an overlap. A gap leaves a thin line of bottle at the back; an overlap seals the label to itself. A gap of about 1/8 in and an overlap of about 1/4 in are common starting points, and film labels overlap well; paper overlaps can lift. The calculator lets you set either one to the size you want, and Use this size keeps the bottle with the design.

Water bottle label sizes that fit common bottles

The bottle label maker offers five sizes. The 8 x 2 in wrap is the first, for 16.9 oz and most 8 and 12 oz water bottles; it prints five to a Letter page and three to a landscape A4 page. The 7.25 x 1.83 in wrap is the 12 oz bottle size; it prints five to a Letter page and five to A4.

The 3 x 1.5 in label is the dropper bottle label, for a 1 oz Boston round bottle with a 3.75 in circumference; twelve print to a Letter page. The 4 x 2 in label is the 5 oz woozy bottle label and prints ten to an Avery 5163 sheet. The 4 x 5 in front label is the 1 L bottle front; two print to a Letter page. A front label does not wrap, so the bottle label maker asks for the bottle when you want to see it on one.

A water bottle label template does not have to be one of these five sizes. Choose Custom size under the size menu and type the width and height, or let the calculator make one from your bottle, and the sheet layout follows the new size. The presets are there so the common jobs start with a size that is known to fit.

The label on the bottle and the ends it makes

Once a circumference is kept with the design, the panel draws the label on a plain bottle. Each column of the flat label goes where it lies round the bottle, and the light falls off toward the edges. Turn the bottle with the slider or the arrow buttons to read the back, and press Show the ends to bring the seam to the front.

The seam is where the two ends of the label meet. With a gap, the bottle shows through between them, and the panel gives the gap width. With an overlap, the right end lies over the first part of the left end, and anything printed in that strip is hidden when the label goes on.

While the size panel is open, the bottle label maker shades the covered strip in the editor, and it adds a warning to the checks for every text, barcode or picture in it. Each warning has a Select it button that picks the element, and the warning clears as soon as the element moves right of the strip. A label with a clean strip can be applied without losing a word.

Printing a water bottle label template at home

Print the design at 100 percent, with no fit to page. The bottle label maker prints at the real size, and a printer that scales the page to fit the paper will make the wrap a little short or a little long. Print the test page on plain paper first, hold it against the label sheet in front of a light, and measure how far the outlines sit from the labels.

The printer offset fields move every label by the same amount. Set them once for a printer, and the next sheet starts in the right place. The sheet preview shows the start position and the number of labels that fit, so a sheet with a used row can start at the first free position.

A water bottle label template printed at home usually goes on a full sheet of labels or on waterproof label paper. For a party, the 8 x 2 in wrap gives five labels a page, enough for a small cooler; for a product run, the same file goes to a print shop as a PDF or an SVG. Keep the bleed at 1/8 in and the safe area at 1/8 in, and the words stay clear of the cut.

Waterproof stock and where the label goes

Water bottles sweat. A paper label on a cold bottle takes on water at the edges, curls and lifts, so waterproof label stock is common practice for a bottle that will sit in ice. Film labels, vinyl labels and laminated sheets are the usual choices; check that your printer can feed the stock, and set the printer for the stock as its maker says.

Apply the label to a clean, dry bottle, starting at one end and working round to the other so the gap or the overlap lands at the back.

For a product bottle, keep the front of the label for the brand and the product name, and put the net contents where the bottle label maker puts it: in the bottom 30 percent of the label, at the letter height the panel area asks for. An 8 x 2 in label is 16 square inches, so its net contents letters are at least 1/8 in high. The checks measure the actual font and report a statement that is too small or too high.

Party labels, product labels and what to put on them

A wedding water bottle label usually has two names, a date and a short line. The wedding starter sets Emma and James, 06.14.2027 and a line, all inside the safe area and clear of the overlap strip. Change the names and the date, keep the layout, and print a sheet for the tables.

A birthday water bottle label has a name and an age. The birthday starter sets Mia turns 5 and a line, and it is a good shape for a party favor: one name, one number, no small print. The company event starter leaves a logo box for a mark, with the event name above it and a date below.

A product water bottle label carries the brand, the product and the net contents. The product starter sets YOUR BRAND, Purified Drinking Water and 16.9 FL OZ (500 mL), with the net contents at the foot of the label in the bottom 30 percent. For a 12 oz bottle, change the net contents to 12 FL OZ (355 mL); for a 1 L bottle, use the 1 L front label and its own net contents.

The four starters share one label size at a time. Pick a starter after choosing the bottle, and the design is drawn for that size; pick another size and the design is fitted to it, one Undo away. The same wrap can carry a wedding design today and a product design next month without a new file.

Designing the water bottle label art with AI

The words on a bottle label need to be exact, and the art can come from anywhere. Design with AI opens the panel on this page, set to the AI bottle label design page. The result comes back to this label, with the text still editable.

On the two water bottle wraps, which are longer than 3:1, the panel makes background art only: the label goes over as its outline, with no words to redraw, and Use in my design puts the art under the design's own text. On the other bottle labels, choose restyle, which keeps the layout and words, or background, which adds art under the words. The AI page is optional and paid per design, and you pay only for the designs you receive; this bottle label maker is free and needs no account.

A good water bottle label reads at arm's length: the brand or the names large, one line of detail, and the net contents at the foot on a product bottle. The bottle view helps with the rest: turn it to the back and make sure the seam, the gap and the overlap look right before a sheet is printed.

Who uses a bottle label maker

The same five sizes serve a party, a market stall and a small production run, at the size each bottle needs.

Weddings and parties

Start with the 8 x 2 in wrap and the wedding starter, change the names and the date, and print five labels to a Letter page for the drinks table.

Birthdays and family events

Use the birthday starter on the 8 x 2 in wrap, or on the 7.25 x 1.83 in wrap for a smaller bottle, and print one sheet with a name for each guest.

Company events and launches

The company event starter leaves a logo box for a mark, with the event name and a date. Use the same wrap for a launch and a second sheet for the next event.

Product bottles and small batches

Use the product starter for a water bottle, the 3 x 1.5 in label for a dropper bottle and the 4 x 2 in label for a sauce bottle, and keep the net contents where the checks ask for it.

Water bottle label template FAQ

Short answers about the sizes, the wrap calculator and the labels this bottle label maker prints.

Open the bottle label maker

What size is a water bottle label template?

The most common water bottle label template is 8 x 2 in, and it fits most 8 oz, 12 oz and 16.9 oz water bottles. A 12 oz bottle also takes a 7.25 x 1.83 in wrap, a 1 oz dropper bottle a 3 x 1.5 in label, a 5 oz sauce bottle a 4 x 2 in label and a 1 L bottle a 4 x 5 in front label. The calculator sizes any other bottle.

How do I know the label will fit my bottle?

Every bottle label template starts with the bottle. Measure it round its label area, or measure across it and multiply by 3.14159. Subtract the gap between the ends, or add the overlap, to get the label width. Measure the straight part of the side and subtract the clearance at the top and bottom to get the height. The calculator does that arithmetic and keeps the bottle with the design.

What does the overlap warning mean?

A label wider than the bottle overlaps itself, and its right end covers the first part of its left end. Anything printed in that strip is hidden when the label goes on, so the bottle label maker shades the strip and reports each text, barcode or picture in it. Move the element right of the strip and the warning clears.

Can I see the bottle label template on the bottle?

Yes. Once a circumference is kept with the design, the panel draws the label on a plain bottle and lets you turn it all the way round. Show the ends brings the seam to the front, so the gap or the overlap can be checked before printing.

How many water bottle labels print on a page?

The 8 x 2 in wrap prints five to a Letter page and three to a landscape A4 page. The 12 oz wrap prints five, the dropper label twelve and the 1 L front two. The 4 x 2 in sauce label prints ten on an Avery 5163 sheet. The sheet preview shows every position before printing.

What paper should I print water bottle labels on?

Waterproof label stock is common practice for bottles that sit in ice, because paper labels take on water at the edges and lift. Film and vinyl labels are the usual choices. Apply the label to a dry bottle at room temperature and work from one end round to the other so the seam lands at the back.

Is the bottle label maker free?

Yes. The bottle label maker, its five presets, its four starters and its print files are free, with no sign-up. The optional AI bottle label design page is paid per design and hands its result back to this editor; on the two wraps it makes background art from the label outline, and Use in my design puts that art under the words.

Can I change the words on a starter?

Yes. Every line of a starter is a text element, so the names, the date, the event name, the brand and the net contents can be edited after the starter is picked. The design stays in the safe area, and the checks report anything moved outside it or into the overlap strip.
