Cosmetic packaging design starts with the product
Good cosmetic packaging design is built around what is inside and who uses it. A vitamin C serum, a rich night cream, a matte lipstick and a gentle cleanser ask for different containers, different boxes and a different tone, so describe the product, its texture and its buyer before the decoration: “a brightening vitamin C serum for people who want a simple routine” tells the generator more than “nice skincare box”.
Then pick the structure. A tall tuck end box holds a dropper bottle of serum or face oil; a cube holds a cream jar; a slim box holds a lipstick or a mascara; a larger carton holds a cleanser tube or a lotion bottle. Each type here starts at a common size and takes yours: skincare packaging design at the real size keeps the product name where shoppers will read it.
The serum box above shows skincare packaging design as a whole box on its own dieline: the front carries the name and the claim, and the sides continue the same clean grid, so the closed box reads as one piece on the shelf and in the hand.
