A pizza box dieline drawn from your size and board

Most pizza box drawings online are one fixed picture. This one builds the FEFCO 0426 box from your size and your board, and shows it folding before you send it.

See the box fold before it is cut

The 3D view folds the box the way a person folds it: walls up, corner tabs in, the front rolled over them, the lid closed. Turn it and stop at any stage.

On B flute (3.0 mm): the 6.4 mm roll strip wraps the corner tab, the inner layer’s tabs lock into the base, and the tuck slides down inside it.

Corrugated allowances worked out

The rolled front is two layers of board with a roll strip between them, two boards plus 0.4 mm wide: 3.4 mm on E flute, 6.4 mm on B flute. The inner layer stops two boards short of each side, and its three tabs lock into slots cut right under it.

Every panel named and measured

The pizza box template prints each panel’s name and size, from the base and lid to the side walls, so you can check it against your oven and your delivery bag. The Math tab shows how each size was worked out.

Pizza box sizes and dimensions

Pizza boxes are named for the pizza they hold, and most are about 2 in deep. Common sizes run from 8 in for a personal pizza through 10 and 12 in for small and medium, 14 in for a large, 16 in for an extra large and 18 in for a party pizza. Each pizza box template here is that many inches square inside.

Inside is the room the pizza gets, the way FEFCO measures a box. On E flute the 14 in box measures 14.12 × 14.31 × 2.12 in outside, a little longer front to back because the front is two layers with a roll strip. The table lists the inside, outside and flat size of every ready box in inches and millimeters.

How a pizza box dieline folds (FEFCO 0426)

The pizza box dieline is one piece of board with no glue. The base sits in the middle; the side walls fold up from it with corner tabs at both ends, the back wall carries the lid, and the front is a double wall: an outer layer, a roll strip over the top and an inner layer that hangs back down inside.

To close it, fold up the side and back walls and turn the corner tabs in. Roll the front over the front tabs, so they sit between its two layers, and push the three locking tabs of the inner layer into their slots in the base. The lid folds over, its side flaps go inside the side walls and the front tuck slides down inside the front. The finger hole goes through both front layers, lined up, so the lid is easy to lift.

Pizza box dieline allowances on corrugated board

Most pizza boxes are E flute or B flute corrugated. E flute is about 1/16 in (1.5 mm) and prints flatter; B flute is about 1/8 in (3 mm) and stacks stronger for delivery. Pick the board and the pizza box dieline adds it where it belongs: half a board for each wall at the base, a whole board for every layer inside it, the lid half a board above the walls so it rests on them.

The PDF has a notes page that lists each allowance, from the roll strip and the inner layer to the locking tabs and their slots, so your box maker can match it to their line at a glance. For a thicker board, such as C flute at about 4 mm, type its caliper and every line moves with it.

Pizza box template files for your box maker and for home

The production PDF is drawn at 1:1 with the cut, crease, bleed and safe lines on separate layers in spot colors set to overprint, plus the notes page. SVG and DXF carry the same lines for a cutting table or a design file, and PNG gives a picture of the dieline.

Set Printing to Digital for a 1/8 in bleed or to Flexo for the 1/2 in that flexo printing on corrugated asks for. To print a pizza box template at home, choose Print: the 3 in mini fits one Letter or A4 page, and a full size box prints over several pages with corner marks to tape together, handy for a model before the run.

How the template splits over Letter pages

At actual size the box takes 6 Letter pages to tape together, plus a page of folding steps.

Pizza box or mailer box: FEFCO 0426 and 0427

A mailer box (FEFCO 0427) is a close cousin of the pizza box. Its double walls are at both ends instead of the front, its front and back walls carry ears that fold into them, and its lid tucks in at the front. Many people call any rolled box a 0427; the pizza box with one double front wall is 0426.

The dieline generator draws both, any size, with the same corrugated allowances, plus tuck end boxes, boxes with lids and drawer boxes. Ready mailer sizes from 6 × 6 × 2 in to 14 × 10 × 4 in are in all box templates.

Design the lid for your pizza box template

The Design section puts a box color, panel colors, your shop name and logo on the pizza box dieline, upright on every panel, and they print with the files. For finished artwork, AI pizza box design draws the lid of a 10 to 18 in box in full color or in one or two inks on white or kraft board, the way pizza boxes are usually printed. AI designs run on credits; the pizza box dieline itself stays free.

Is this pizza box dieline free?

Yes. Every size and every file is free, with no signup and no watermark. Save your box in this browser, in a project file or in a free account.

What size is a standard pizza box?

Pizza boxes go by the pizza: 8 in personal, 10 in small, 12 in medium, 14 in large, 16 in extra large and 18 in party size, most about 2 in deep. The 14 in box is the most common.

How big is a 14 inch pizza box?

14 × 14 × 2 in inside. On E flute it measures 14.12 × 14.31 × 2.12 in outside, and the flat blank is 36.4 × 18.1 in.

Are pizza box sizes inside or outside?

A pizza box template takes inside sizes here, the room the pizza gets, as FEFCO does. The tool shows the outside and the flat size next to them.

What should I send to a box maker?

The production PDF: 1:1, cut and crease lines in spot colors on their own layers, bleed and safe lines, and a notes page with the board and every allowance. Many also take the DXF.

Which board are pizza boxes made of?

E flute or B flute corrugated, white top or kraft. Choose it under Board and the dieline is drawn for its thickness.

Can I print a pizza box template at home?

Yes. The 3 in mini pizza box prints on one Letter or A4 page of card stock. A full size box prints over several pages to tape together, good for a model.

Can I make a mailer box from this?

Pick Mailer box in the dieline generator: the FEFCO 0427 box with rolled ends, in any size.

Can I put my logo on the pizza box?

Yes. Add your logo and shop name in the Design section and they print with the files. For a full lid design, open AI pizza box design.
